A very good fast paced mystery story about Alexis Parker security specialist hired to protect a high profile owner of a company. Her old boss had recommended her to his friend James to provide protection for him from kidnapping threats. Martin Technologies was James Martin's whole life. From the moment he wakes up in the morning through to the last thoughts of the day. Her interview for the job continues for an impromptu dinner invitation, which turns into a robbery at the restaurant staged by her New to be boss. Alexis proves her capabilities in taking down one of the supposed gunmen and gets the job. As the story unfolds James proves to be a bit unorthodox and Alexis struggles to keep her temper in check when around James.

This book was riveting. I read it in two days. It was hard to put down. The attention to detail was extensive. After resigning from her job as an investigation at a company, Alexis interviews for a position as security consultant for billionaire, James Martin. Martians life has been threatened. Alexis is hired to find out who is behind the threats.A bomb explodes, people get shot at, and lots more excitement. You must read this for yourself to enjoy the action.I would have liked more interaction between Suzanne, Martins personal assistant, and Alexis. Suzanne's part in the story needs to be fleshed out.I would recommend this to a friend to read.

G. K. Parks is a new author to me so Likely Suspects was a 'test' book . Plot development was a bit slow at first, but finally built more rapidly as details fell into place. I did not find this to be a typical book in the genre. More characters were involved than expected and figuring out who was the antagonist seemed easy, then there would be a red herring thrown in. Character development was consistent and as important as the plot which I enjoy. Next, I'm going to read the three prequels. It might be a good idea to read these first. I plan to read the entire series and am very happy that the series is a long one.

It's just okay, does have some bad language but I didn't think it was over the top with it. No sex.It did not really keep my interest very well, and a few things I felt was just plain stupid, like she is suppose to be this bad ass chic he hired but after a gun fight and him and her getting hurt, she throws up when asked to go back to the scene, then has a screaming night mare like a sissy. Some parts were good, but not a big mystery. I liked the love connection the best.Happy reading Ya'll.......

Although the heroine, as she is portrayed, has an unlikely personality for a 'trained federal agent', I still found the book to be entertaining, just not very believable. That being said, I will still read the ensuing books, because the relationship between her & the guy she's guarding has yet to be developed. You can assume that more is yet to come. And for sure, this book was an easy read-good for those days when mindless reading is a necessity.

There is nothing to turn my engine faster than reading a great mystery or thriller. I love real characters, realistic plots and trouble to get in and back out. In Like Suspects, the author is a writer’s writer. The whole of the book is soundly written, and the characters, for the most part, are likeable, the story was spoiled right off with a corny test of loyalty to get the job. I know people love this type of stuff so I can’t be all that put off, but it did jar me into reading the book without the seriousness I like to carry into the pages. When things start off or become strangely corny I have a hard time getting into the rest of the book. That’s not to say I didn’t finish this one because I did. I came away, however, wishing the author took the story with just a bit more seriousness. No one blows up a building and chances multiple deaths just to get a job. I know lots of bad guys, cops and law enforcement jockeys and so on and none know of anyone ever doing such a reckless thing. It’s the kind of stuff you see in B movies and grant you B movies make money and have been doing so for years. It’s like apples and oranges – some like one or the other but not both. This beginning was way over the top. As I maneuvered through the book, I enjoyed the writing and eventually the characters. Alexis Parker is one of those chicks you either love or hate. You can see her wearing bullet-belts around each shoulder and taking one twenty bad guys while being cornered in a dead-end alley. Of course, she’d beat them all up and come out alive, and that’s what Alexis Parker is. As defined, she might even come from the alley without a scratch, and I guess that’s the problem I have with this type of character. While they are fun in a fantasy world, they’re not real. The story, however, wants us to want Alexis to be real and accept all she does as part of the job – part of life. You half expect her to take three in the chest and still get up, protect the client, get the bad guys and live through the whole mess. Bottom line – I like some and some I didn’t like some just as people do with apples and oranges.

If you like good character development, then this is a good read for you. Parker, the primary character is well developed. She is a woman we all know--not the type of job she does--but the way her mind works. Her quick mind, her doubts, her mixed feelings and her approach to the world are all traits we have seen in people around us and maybe in ourselves. The dialogue and the view into the thoughts of this woman are entertaining. The rest of the book is not so well developed. The story line held promise but, the plot is less than mesmerizing. The mystery never quite gets exciting and is resolved much to abruptly in the end.Would I read another novel by this author? Yes, because I like the richness of the Parker character. However, it would only be one more if the plot was as unsatisfying as this one.
